This is what the cake from the failure post was supposed to look like.
This cake is from Tish Boyle's The Cake Book. I don't actually own a copy, so I cannot post the recipe right now. That said, it's one of the more interesting layer cakes i've made and I highly recommend it.
I'm not sure how much i'll be baking this week, as I leave for California a week from today. If you would like to see me bake something in particular, leave a comment. If you have hungry coworkers/classmates in the Pittsburgh area, i'd love an occasion to bake for. No promises though. Also:
That is all.

MMmmmmm....looks wonderful! Great job!
I'm originally from Philly :). As a food lover, you should definitely check out Reading Terminal Market. Lots of good eats there. I love Metropolitan Bakery's bread (and muffins), and Le Bus has good baked goods too, and great lunch/brunch. Another excellent brunch spot is Sabrina's Cafe near the Italian Market. If I think of any others, I'll drop you a line!
STOCKS! It's worth the trip through the kind of sort of not so great neighborhood to get the pound cake. World famous. You have to try it. 2614 East Lehigh Avenue, 215-634-7344. I lived in Philly for a bunch of years, and this is the best. I miss it!! Enjoy, hope you get some!
